Koreshan State Historic Site, situated in the subtropical landscape of southwestern Florida, preserves the remains of one of nineteenth-century America's most unusual religious communities. Founded in 1894 by the charismatic spiritual leader Cyrus Teed, the Koreshan Unity established itself in this remote region with the conviction that the Earth itself was hollow and that its inhabitants lived within a concave interior shell.
