The structure was subsequently repurposed to serve as a meeting hall for the Masonic Lodge, becoming a center for fraternal activities and community gatherings. Its location in Daphne, positioned along Old Spanish Trail behind what is now known as the Riviera Utilities building, placed it at a significant crossroads of historical importance, both in terms of the town development and in relation to deeper currents of regional history extending back to the American Civil War.

The paranormal legacy associated with the Old Daphne Masonic Hall extends far deeper into historical time than its 1920s construction date, reaching back to the American Civil War era more than half a century before the building itself was erected. During the Civil War, as Union armies advanced through Alabama, local families living in the vicinity of what would become the Daphne area took measures to protect their valuables and property from the anticipated depredations of Northern troops. Historical accounts document that neighboring families buried their most precious possessions in a deep well located near the site, attempting to preserve family heirlooms, currency, and precious metals from confiscation. A Confederate soldier was assigned the responsibility of guarding these buried treasures, serving as a sentinel to ensure that the family wealth would remain secure throughout the conflict.
